YummySoup! App Reviews

Great App

I really needed this as well. I also have recipes stored all over the internet and tons of printed recipes in folders in the kitchen that are looking a little worn. This will be great to store all those loose printed recipes and amalgamate all my favorites from the web in one convenient location. Until the iPad app is ready this prints to a pdf and emails great which I just store on the iPad in my iBooks, Goodreader or send it to Dropbox. Then I can use either the iPad or laptop in the kitchen. Looking forward to the grocery lists. Until it recognizes nutritional information Im just storing it under notes for now.

Great App

Downloaded this app the other day and loving it so far. I have always wanted to build my own recipe book and this app as given me a nice easy way to do that. The import recipe tool works great and editing existing recipes is easy. Add your own photos, email recipes, create new ones and have everything catagorized by your preferences. Great tool for any foodies out there that enjoy searching recipes off the web and building their own recipe book.

Quits unexpectantly when adding recipes manully, even after update

Yummysoup started amazing, it actually exceeded my expectations. Inputing recipes from popular food websites such as epicurious is a snap. But there is a glitch that keeps me from adding recipes manually. Without that ability the usefulness of this is minimal and so 3 stars rather than 5 which it will be once this is fixed.

Wonderful Program

I had been looking for a program like this to come out, and Im so happy it did! Now all my recipies are organised and so easy to find. This app is really a must for anyone who saves recipies from the internet. My only problems with the program: -Id like to see more themes -Selecting text is finicky on the web importer.

Not quite there

Love the import feature however, this really needs a grocery list and mobile app. Also, program still very buggy as it crashes on me all the time specially when trying to post a recipecast. Menu windows hide too easily in full screen and get lost when switching back. Great potential when cleaned up.

Mixed Feelings

I was pretty disappointed with this purchase on first review. It didnt seem to do anything that Finder, Numbers, iCal and Quick Look dont already do together—i.e. enter and sort data files and display them in Cover Flow. And except for Numbers, those are all features already built into OS X. Then I checked out the tutorial videos on HungrySeacows website. The Web Importer and Recipiecasting actually look very easy and useful. So I came back to edit this review and give it an extra two stars. However, there is a glitch in the application. When returning from Full Screen to Windowed view, I lose the folders panel on the left and the Cover Flow recipe bar at the top. I have to exit the application and restart it to get them back.

Does what it says!

This App does what it says and a little more. I Would be most happy if a grocery list component is added soon. I find, I want my recipes in an electronic format so I can create grocery lists and so far, this app doesnt do that. Hopefully that will come soon and I can update this to 5 stars! Web importer is GREAT but I would like to see a few more additional sites added to the partnership. Thanks YummySoup!

Delish!

This was my first purchase from the MacApp Store and it was well worth the money. Features I would like to see added: the abilty to create grocery lists, as well as measurement conversions and recipe scaling (increasing/decreasing the yield). It would be nice to have an iPhone/iPad app for portability.

Satisfied purcahse

Im really pleased with this app. I spent a few weeks sitting on the fence, reading reviews and looking around before making my purchase, but I could immediately see why it has such favourable reviews. The web importer is much easier than I thought it would be, in fact I had a lot of fun importing various recipes from my favourite sites. Im looking forward to an iPhone version that will sync with the Mac version and to a grocery list feature. Also, it would be great if the software could import hand-written and receipe book recipes in some way. Perhaps via the camera? This is the second recipe manager Ive ever used and so far Im very satisfied with my purchase.

Wow

I really enjoy Yummy Soup! This is a software I have been waiting for ages!!! Its easy to use, and its very effective. I cant wait to see the next updates with nutrition and grocery list. I would suggest to be able to write a meal in the weekly planner instead of just being able to drag and drop receipes. You know, sometimes we do not cook every single day of the week but we just have a pizza in the freezer that will do! Furthermore, I would love to have the option to write who tasted the receipe on each receipe page. So we could add the guests that tasted it and we would not cook the same thing twice to friends and family!!! Thank you so much for Yummy Soup!

YummySoup! is a yummy app

This app is just about as perfect as an app can be: its easy to use, it makes everything look good, and it makes being organized fun. Its the most worthwhile thing Ive spent my money on in a very long time. Thanks, Ken!

Great App!

Im pretty much satisfied with this app. I wish I could upload more pictures not only 5 images.

Love it so far...but there are some upgrades on my wish list

The grocery list integration was a huge bump to my overall enjoyment of this app. I am gradually moving my recipe box into this app. I love being able to send a nice pdf of the recipe to my friends, so quickly and easily. Some items on my wish list include: 1) Please allow us to edit the weekly menu planner, not just drag and drop recipes. I would love to be able to plan my entire week on here, but I dont include recipes for basic eggs, toast, bagels, chopped fruit or vegetables, etc in my recipe file. It would also be nice to divide the weekly planner into Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack categories. 2) Like others, I would love to have an app for my iTouch that I can carry with me to the grocery store rather than printing off my grocery list. Thanks and Keep up the great work!

Great application.

Great application. I was surprised to see how easy it was to download a recipe from any website, convert it with this application and add it. Takes no time at all. I will use it to the max and ITS FREE!!! Many thanks to the creator.

its awesome!

I like this yummy soup! I have been using it for quite some time now. It does save you a lot of time and let you organize all your recipes from different websites, notes, magazines, and cook books. The only I dont like about this is the Grocery list. It doesnt make you changed aisles like it should be. (I think theres a malfunction in it.) Editing aisles is malfunction as well. I tried to change it manually every time but as soon as I press email all the aisle is change from what it was before and the email is screwed-up too. I hope they do something about this. Thanks for reading !

Love this app!

Great for creating and editing recipes as well as having all my favourites saved in one place and easy to look up. Hoping the iOS update is coming soon its very cumbersome to sync the 2 now.

Decluttered by bookmarks menu!

My husband told me about this app after seeing it in a MacLife magazine. I downloaded it (hesitant at first due to the what I saw as a higher price tag in comparison to some other apps). I took all of my favourites and input them making them always accessible instead of sifting through numerous cook books. The most useful thing though: Web Importer! Ive started to look at many different food blogs and my bookmark menu was full. This took is so useful for taking those recipes you find and easily (repeat e-a-s-i-l-y) have them at your finger tips, print them, etc., etc. Its also easy to drag and drop photos so you know what to expect. Merci! :) et bon appétit!

Falling behind

I, like I assume many others, bought this app to digitize recipes and sync them with my iPhone so Id know what ingredients Id need to get at the grocery store. The iOS version of the app however is very underpowered and syncing between the desktop client is currently a pain. Meanwhile, a similar app, Paprika, is vastly more powerful on iOS and has iCloud syncing. Weve been promised updates with YummySoup, but its been several months without any updates. I recommend users interested in this app go with Paprika instead. As for me, Im not holding my breath for the promised updates and Im about ready to switch away from YummySoup!, and I wont be coming back.

Dud

consistent with what a previous user mentioned, this app is an underwhelming waste of 20$. first app i ever bought on the app store and the one i regret the most based on sheer uselessness

Still waiting...

Development seems to have ceased… description mentions 10.7 support but now Mountain Lion 10.8 is here and still nothing… no iCloud support, no decent iPad App. Unfortunate as this certainly had the makings of a great App.
