Crash prone and lacking in support
YS! isn’t a bad recipe app. Its interface is clean, its recipe view is great as it can support multiple photos including allowing them to be embedded in the steps, and finally you can have nested groups (Categories)
Despite that I have long since abandoned the app in favour of another recipe app. Why?
1) Lack of updates: The last update was in 2011, the app is prone to crashing for instance when editing a recipe and hasn’t be updated to take advantage of any new features of Mountain Lion or Mavericks
2) No iCloud Syncing: Trying to sync with the iOS companion app has to be done manually via the iTunes rather than using iCloud syncing. I spend most of my time using my iPad and not my Mac however I want the ease of getting data back onto the Mac, and vice versa. (Note, when the iOS version had its major overhaul in Mar 2013 it was promised that iCloud syncing was coming soon to the Mac version)
3) Groceries: While it supports the concept of groceries, the interface isn’t particularly helpful and again you want it to easily sync to the iOS device (namely my phone) so I can check things off as I’m shopping.
